Take back the streets for Pride Weekend in the heart of the Davie Street Village between Burrard and Jervis! This year we're exploding the beer garden, with the party spilling out from the Community Stage at Davie Street's historic Rainbow Crosswalk at Bute Street, where you can pound the pavement to some of the city's hottest talent and witness the annual Wimple-In ceremony of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Come out and celebrate with LGBTQ2+ community groups and artists from around Vancouver, as well as the businesses of Davie Street! Members of the Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society, a non-profit Two-Spirit community organization, will be present at all Pride events, to perform the 'Down Ceremony'. The Down Ceremony, is a sacred ceremony, used by many coastal First Nations, and gives opportunity to cleanse the grounds on which pride events will be held. The Down feathers, which are blown into the air, is a part of the ceremony cleansing, which offers a blessing, and it may fall on your person. It also signifies that 'we come in peace'! Davie Street Party, like all of the Vancouver Pride Society's events is accessible. The British Columbia Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf (BCRAD) will provide a socializaing hub for the Deaf at Jim Deva Plaza. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// This event is FREE and ALL AGES! However, those wishing to drink MUST purchase a RFID wristband. You will need to purchase an RFID wristband from the Vancouver Pride Society in order to enjoy alcoholic beverages on the street between 6PM – 12AM. What is Cashless and How does it work? o Your personalized festival wristband to get you into the party faster - and it can also be used as your digital wallet to make purchases at the on street Bars – all with a simple tap of your wristband! o You’ll want to create account & register your wristband online at the David Street Party website. This helps you in case your wristband is lost or damaged. You can then add funds to your account simply by Topping-Up online or by visiting a Top-Up Station located inside the festival. o You can add funds to your account at a physical Top-Up Station located throughout the event. Once your account is topped-up, you’re ready to make purchases at the Bar Vendors by simply tapping your wristband to one of the payment points. The amount will automatically be deducted from your account – it’s quick and easy! o Our cashless payment system operates in a similar manner to pre-paid cards. At the Davie Street Party, we will be using high tech, RFID-enabled wristbands that include an embedded electronic chip in the RFID tag that will act as your key to pay for beer at the bars.
