Bio:One thing can be said about Aviator Shades: they understand Rock and Roll.
Big choruses that stick in your head for days. Massive guitar riffs intertwined with fiery, melodic leads. A rock solid rhythm section that commands it’s audience to shake their hips (and bang their heads).
Aviator Shades is the brainchild of singer / bassist Dave Gorman, whose calling to live, eat and breathe Rock n’ Roll saw him leave his native Ireland for the shores of Western Canada. Performing regularly throughout Vancouver’s rock scene with a revolving cast of talented (albeit temporary) musicians, Dave became hellbent on assembling the ultimate army of rock soldiers.
Enter guitarists George Baker and Shaun Michael Thackeray. Having only met when Gorman brought them together, they became instant friends found an undeniable (perhaps eerie) chemistry together; swapping leads and harmonizing in the spirit of their rock guitar heroes. The addition of Kamloops based rocker Spencer Tomlinson, whose hard hitting drumming melded beautifully with Gorman’s thundering bass lines, completed the essential Aviator Shades line up.
Aviator Shades spent much of 2013 crafting new material with Default drummer-turned-producer Danny Craig (One Bad Son, Fighting For Ithica). With their songwriting and performance skills pushed to new heights, the band crafted a six song EP which greatly surpassed their own heightened expectations.
“Ready To Blow” was released in early 2014 to acclaim and excitement, allowing Aviator Shades to expand their audience throughout Western Canada. Summer touring and festival highlights included performing alongside April Wine, Monster Truck, and seminal punk legends Dayglo Abortions.
Continuous gigging and a dedicated rehearsal regiment have moulded Aviator Shades into a powerhouse of pure rock energy. Their timeless, empowering sound and uplifting performances signal that 2014 is just the start of something big… This band truly is Ready To Blow.
Bio: Dead City Scandal is an authentic, in your face rock n roll band and has been a driving force in Vancouver’s thriving live rock and roll scene for the past 4 years. The bands 1st release, ‘the Battle for VanCity’ made a significant impact on both the music scene as well as their personal successes by packing marquee venues in and around the Vancouver area and landing them top spots in various battle of the bands competitions as well as opening for legendary rockers, Sweet. Now moving forward, Dead City Scandal looks to hit the road and the airwaves in support of their new, full length, self titled album to be released through ITunes and CD baby on Tuesday, October 14th 2014.
The new album was a long process for the band as they finely tuned their sound into more dynamic, hard hitting rock n roll while adding more melody and feel to the powerful sonic basis on which they were created. Recorded at the infamous Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, BC, it was engineered and co produced along with DCS by Eric Mosher, a highly regarded engineer that has worked on many large projects such as Franz Ferdinand, AC/DC, Black Veil Brides and Muse while taking the reins on many independent artists as well. The album has 11 tracks with hard hitting rock anthems such as Given Up, Standing My Ground, and Until We Die along with more emotionally driven tracks like One Last Dance and Comedown. With huge sounding production, it truly has something for every rock fan regardless of age, gender or sub genre.
The band currently plans to spread their wings on this album. While strong social media campaigns have brought on new followers and fans throughout Canada, the US and United Kingdom, the band is going to bring their high energy, massive sounding and entertaining live show to trending markets. DCS is currently planning a few spot tours throughout British Columbia to close out the year. 2015 is already seeing them hit high exposure performances including the Canadian Winter Games being held in Prince George BC as well as travelling the West Coast US through the spring. The band is also going to be pushing a continent wide radio campaign for the new record to expand on the numerous online and college radio stations already embracing the new face of rock n roll as well as jumping on the summer festival circuit in summer of 2015.
Dead City Scandal is ready to embrace the hard road ahead. With the new record, merchandise line and support of rock fans throughout N. America and beyond, they are a growing force that will not be stopped. For more information on the band, please check out the following links:
