This is a restaurant IMO, not a pub. Food is decent, typical watery Vancouver BC drinks. Too much TV lighting, and sports content. Not really gay as it's a local hangout for everyone. Plastic wrapped patio, ugh. I rarely visit but it always appears busy.
cool pub
Cool pub for the outdoor area, have some food and some drinks while enjoying your friend company, meet new people on the large tables or just perving on the crowd passing by . Friendly staff. Just your next door kind of pub.
very nice
very good
Strictly mediocre
This place's best asset is its friendly staff. And while the service is good, I'd like to see their meal quality and cleaning (the whole place smelt of stale beer both nights we went) get the same attention.
Nice Place
Very nice place to meet friends. On summer you can enjoy the balcony until the sunset, at 9PM.
Great Renovation
This place looks great after being fixed up. Good call getting rid of the hideous paintings. This place looks fab.
Music is alright (ideally could be a bit gayer) and hockey on the tvs?? (This is a gay bar we're talking about right??)
That critique aside, definitely recommend.
A casual bar
I've only been there once. It's more of a casual hang out place where you go with friends to talk over a pitcher of beer. Not my thing but you might like it. When I went it was on a Friday night. The crowd was mixed: men and women of all sexual orientations.
Good food
We got into Vancouver late evening (10:00 p.m.ish) on St. Patrick's nite. As we walked down Davie Street to find something to eat, FountainHead was one of the first ones we came upon. It was still very crowded with St. Patties Day partiers, and was still serving food. So, we went in, and had a very good, nicely priced, late nite meal. I would go back. The waitress was very pleasant.
Great place to visit
The food and drinks were great and well priced. The service could have been a little better but the great food and drinks made up for it. Its a must stop for any travelers visiting Vancouver and want to experience the gay scene.
Be careful here!
In March of 2009, there was a gay bashing here - the victim is in serious condition as of this writing. Just another attack in an epidemic of gay bashings in the heart of Vancouver's gay district along Davie Street. Hard to believe we are not even safe in our own clubs! Outrageous!
