Vancouver Pride Parade

************** UPDATED ARRIVING TIME!!! **********************

Please plan to arrive by 10:30AM. You may be able to enter off Burrard. If not you’ll need to go around to BUTE and come into Robson that way. Just tell who’s guarding the street you’re the first position, AN1.

We stage on the north side of Robson Street. VPC asked everyone to keep a gap open in the middle of the street for emergency vehicles. Starting from the sidewalk we can squeeze bike in four abreast (side-by-side). Keep in mind that’s temporary until we start moving. If more bikes arrive we can stack everyone towards the front until we move.

Once we start please expect to go no faster than 2nd gear. This is not a race. We can open and ride 4-5 across in formation down the street. The Trev Deeley pick-up truck will be in the middle of our pack. This is not a race and anyone racing will be ticketed by VPD.

Safety Briefing at 11:30 AM!
Do not ride close to the curb and the crowds. We must be aware that people or children may dart out in front. Give yourself distance between riders. We’re at the front so we can spread out. Bring water and sun-screen!

Also, we need to keep two bikes to ride parallel with the pick-up truck. Finally, helmets. I don’t know the rules around helmets for the parade. I’m trying to reach out to VPD for information. I’ll have that info on Parade Day. I’ll also address parade security and protesters at the briefing.

Have fun! Decorate your bikes anyway you see fit! Winners has free Pride flags if you want to stick a few on your bikes.
Disbursing @End: Please see the map I posted that shows how to disperse at the end of the parade. I’m working on securing motorcycle parking in Yaletown at my condo for those who’d like to park and go to the festival. I should know about that permission in the next two days or so.
