The parade will kickoff on Thurlow at Robson street, turn left down Desman Street, and continue onto Beach Avenue.
Members of the Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society, a non-profit Two-Spirit community organization, will be present at all Pride events, to perform the 'Down Ceremony'. The Down Ceremony, is a sacred ceremony, used by many coastal First Nations, and gives opportunity to cleanse the grounds on which pride events will be held. The Down feathers, which are blown into the air, is a part of the ceremony cleansing, which offers a blessing, and it may fall on your person. It also signifies that 'we come in peace'!
The British Columbia Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf (BCRAD) will be providing an accessibility hub at Alexandra Park on Beach Ave. with parade embcee interpretation for the Deaf and intervenors for the deaf and blind.
The 2016 Vancouver Pride Parade will be described for people who are blind and partially sighted by VocalEye. Seating and headsets will be provided free of charge for VocalEye users in the accessibility area in Alexandra Park. Seating and equipment are limited. Reservations are recommended.
