Lost in history textbooks, in the depths of government archives, and in many people’s memories are LGBTQ+ histories. The process of keeping our stories alive is one that the Canadian Lesbian + Gay Archives has been doing since 1973. Remembering is a powerful act that allows our communities to survive and thrive, where otherwise it would be erased. Come learn about the CLGA, LGBTQ+ histories, and how we access the past.
During this presentation you will learn about the collections the CLGA houses, a few seedy stories of Canada’s LGBTQ+ past, and where to go today. There will also be the opportunity to discuss local LGBTQ+ histories and what stories we need to keep.
Event in partnership with Qmunity - BC's Queer Resource Centre.
We would like to acknowledge that this event is being held on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations.
