Come out to support and celebrate some of the leading lights in Vancouver's LGBTQ2+ community by attending the PRIDE Legacy Awards. Based on the eight-colour rainbow flag created by Gilbert Baker, the eight awards will be presented to outstanding community members. Recipients are chosen by a selection committee of representatives from community organizations throughout Vancouver after being nominated by members of the public.
The short awards ceremony includes an all-ages reception with a cash bar, a gourmet food selection provided by the Executive Chef of Urban Fare, and an art show featuring LGBTQ2+ artists from around the city. There will be a fundraising prize draw, and entertainment will be provided by the Vancouver Circus School.
The PRIDE Legacy Awards is an opportunity to highlight some of the important, amazing work being done within Vancouver to address many of the challenges and issues facing our community. While we have made significant strides towards equality and equity, there are still battles to be fought and it is important to draw attention to those at the forefront.
The PRIDE Legacy Awards will begin with a ceremony performed by the Greater Vancouver Native Cultural Society, including a drum circle and chant. The PRIDE Legacy Awards take place on unceded Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Territories.
Accessibility
The Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre is fully wheelchair accessible, including restrooms. Seating will be reserved for attendees with differing levels of mobility at the PRIDE Legacy Awards.
ASL interpretation on the night of the Legacy Awards is provided by the BC Rainbow Alliance for the Deaf.
All washrooms booked for the PRIDE Legacy Awards will be designated Gender Neutral for the duration of the event.
The Vancouver Pride Society has a Ticket Sponorship program, where businesses and individuals can buy tickets on behalf of low-income community members, to remove economic barriers to attendees.
