“On a hot summer night, would you offer your throat to the wolf with red roses?”
“Yes.”
“I bet you say that to all the boys.”
An suburban, adolescent tale of friendship, family, experimenting, and looking for love against the backdrop of 80's Edmonton and one of the most iconic albums ever produced: Bat Out Of Hell.
Mark and his Mom have relocated to co-op community outside of Edmonton. Its most prominent feature is an area known as “the Pipeline” where local youth go to hang out, do drugs, have sex, whatever. The kinetic Alex, a wild kid, who could have been a hockey star, captivates Mark. However, Alex has been “laying it in” Teresa, who has recently barred from the local mall. Watching over them all is a one armed Jesus, powerful but ineffectual to stop their lives from exploding like a roller coaster leaving it’s tracks!
Inspired by writer Damian Rumph’s Edmonton upbringing, Meat Loaf Jesus is a coming of age story tackling the themes of innocence, homosexuality, religion, and classic rock.
